Eating at a restaurant is as much about the experience as it is about the food. If the food is amazing, I will never forget the moment that the fork hits my mouth. I will never forget the sight, the sound, how close the table is next to me, the person I am sitting across from, the hostess at the front desk. It is communal, meant to be shared. I am a food sharer. If you would like to try what is on my plate, you may try it, as long as you agree to share what is on yours, as well. Great food, great conversation, a shared laugh, great service = a magical evening. It doesn't matter if the food costs $10 or $1,000. If it's amazing, I will forever be in your debt for allowing me to be a part of that moment in your restaurant. I appreciate the art from you, the artist. That doesn't mean we're always going to agree. But I promise to keep an open mind and not ask you to change the menu you have created. Show me what you can do with these humble elements. I can't wait to try it.

My favorite sushi in Chicago, hands down. This is the place I go to get my sushi fix! I love the atmosphere, and they have many inventive rolls to choose from. I haven't had a roll there that I didn't like, truly. I highly recommend Rise!

If you're craving sushi at 10:45 at night on a weeknight or Friday/ Saturday, Coast is the place to go! (It's great during normal dinner hours, too, the wait is just longer!) Great sushi, great for a fun date night or a girls night out! Lots of fresh fish choices, and BYOB, which is always a plus. Recommended for great sushi and fun atmosphere.

Ceres' Table is one of those restaurants you'll drive right by and never know you missed one of the best dinners in the city. Next to a towing company and across the street from a cemetery, the neighborhood is interesting, to say the least. But there's plenty of street parking, and the food that you'll find once you step in the door is the best kept secret on the North side. Quality ingredients, composed and elegant dishes, and house-made sodas are just some of the reasons to pop in to try this place. The atmosphere can be a bit noisy, but the kind and talented chef himself is often your runner, and his sweet wife is the usual hostess, which gives you the impression that you've just wandered into their kitchen and they're more than happy to have you join them for dinner. A neighborhood gem and one worth traveling outside of your neighborhood to try.

Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba is a tapas restaurant, so they serve Spanish small plates. Great for sharing, and I have yet to try something on their tapas menu that I didn't love. This restaurant is great for small to medium groups, because you can each order 2-3 small dishes and pass them around the table to share. The atmosphere is loud and very social, but it makes for a fun date night, as well. The sangria is fantastic and highly recommended. You should go.

Their Signature Sunset ice cream (merlot ice cream with dark chocolate chips) is so yummy! I make a special trip out of my way in the summer to pick up a pint!
