Description: Courtesy of XA, The Experiential Agency:

prasino, a sustainably-minded eco-friendly American fare restaurant with an emphasis on seasonal, locally-grown organic ingredients will be opening a third location in the heart of the hipster scene in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood in early August 2011. prasino already has a strong following at their two successful suburban locations in St. Charles and LaGrange and will be bringing their eco-chic concept to 1846 West Division at the corner of Marion Court and Division Street.

prasino’s menu is updated seasonally, but signature dishes include the Caprese Eggs Benedict ($9.50) made with an English muffin, tomato, basil, mozzarella, poached eggs, balsamic glaze and hollandaise sauce. prasino also features a plethora of omelets, frittatas, pancakes, French toast and crepes. Another signature item is the refreshing Lobster Stuffed Avocado ($16) topped with mango salsa and chili beurre fondue. For something hearty, the Braised Beef Short Ribs ($25) are sure to hit the spot, served with cauliflower cheddar gratin, seasonal greens and truffle mushroom cabernet sauce. A favorite fish dish is the Miso Chili Glazed Line Caught Alaskan Black Cod ($28), paired with steamed brown rice, julienned vegetables and ginger carrot sauce. For something more basic, prasino serves up some of the best salads, sandwiches and burgers in town. prasino also has an extensive beverage menu that includes fresh-squeezed juices, smoothies, an extensive gourmet tea list, hot/cold coffee drinks, small producer wines, beers and spirits. Furthermore, prasino also features delicious gluten-free desserts, breads, crackers and pancakes that do not sacrifice on flavor. prasino is sure to satisfy the diverse food preferences of any guest.

  • Food: Healthy, Strong Flavors
  • Decor: Modern, Earthy, Bright
  • Service: Friendly and attentive

  • Wine / Cocktails: Tropical

Overview:

Prasino is the ideal place for lovers of strong flavors. As I would consider myself among them, I greatly enjoyed my experience there.

The bartenders were serving a signature tropical drink made with coconut and pineapple juice and tropical flavored tequilla. Enjoying the festive drink on the patio had me thinking I was in Miami or LA instead of Wicker Park for a few seconds.

I experienced a wide variety of things on the menu but my favorite dishes were two of the whole wheat flatbreads. The Greco is made with olives, feta cheese, spinach and roasted garlic and the Mushroom Flatbread had perfectly sauteed mushrooms with mozzarella cheese, and lots of arugula.

Overview:

The outdoor patio makes you feel like you are in Miami, not part of the Chicago urban landscape. And those cocktails, keep them coming …

The lobster salad is one of their specialties and is so fresh and decadent. Lobster stuffed avocado with mango salsa and chili beurre fondue. The “beurre blanc” with the lobster is the perfect pairing and makes the dish memorably rich.

Ahi tuna tartar with ponzu, firecracker, avocado, wasabi caviar and sesame wontons.

""Loved everything about Prasino""

  • Food: Prasino means green in Greek. Food and decor all locally grown and sustainable and full of flavor
  • Decor:
  • Service: extremely knowledgeable about any dietary restriction
  • Cost: $$$
  • Wine / Cocktails:

Overview:

Prasino is the whole package - beautiful atmosphere, fantastic food and a varied, eclectic menu that leaves no dietary preference out in the dust. The cocktails are delicious and can be enjoyed in the separate lounge area - appetizers are wonderful in there as well! The lava roll and shishito peppers were highlights of the starters. The avocado roll and fish tacos were filled with flavor and easy enough to share. For an etntree, go with Black Cod - cooked perfectly.
They will substitute gluten free fries or gf crackers and all entrees are tagged as either Vegan, Vegetarian or Gluten Free. This place is so comitted to offering something for everyone without sacrificing a bit on flavor and texture. Tough to do!

Recommended Dishes:

Lava roll, Stuffed Avocado, Shishito Peppers, Black Cod

Overview:

Prasino will be one of my new "go to" places. I absolutely loved the food, the ambiance and the drinks. It was the perfect place to catch up with friends and enjoy a fantastic meal.
The menu has something for everyone and we chose to get a lot of different options and share.
The farm flatbread was an excellent way to start that was covered in 3 cheeses and the truffle honey.

The braised short rib dish was the bomb! It is covered in a cabernet truffle sauce with a side of cauliflower cheddar gratin that are perfection.

Save some room for desert and go for the lava cake. It is warm and gooey and amazing.

LOVE PRASINO!

"Lobster stuffed avacado"

September 2, 2011

  • Outdoor dining

  • Food:
  • Decor: Contemporary, excellent patio
  • Service: Great
  • Cost: $$$
  • Wine / Cocktails: the micro-brewed kombucha was good

Overview:

I went to prasino for lunch. They have a great outdoor patio and a great menu.

The lobster stuffed avacado was just as good as it looks in the picture! The tuna tartar was also good. I wouldn't normally order chorizo seitan tacos but for vegan / gluten free, they tasted like ground beef tacos!

I ordered the micro-brewed kombucha which is a fermented tea, the kombucha-mosa tasted just like a mimosa.

Overall, I really liked prasino and I am looking forward to trying their dinner and brunch menus!

Recommended Dishes:

lobster stuffed avacado, tuna tartar, chorizo seitan tacos
