Overview:
Barrio is definitely not your typical Mexican restaurant and I mean that as the highest compliment. We stuck with the simple House Margaritas but our server did not lead us wrong with flavor suggestions. The Mango Margarita was fruity and fun, but the Blood Orange Margarita was fantastic! At first an orange flavored margarita may sound weird but it was almost more like passionfruit and I loved it! My guest gave the Cucumber-Lime Margarita a try and said it was a little hot if people can't handle spicy, but she really enjoyed it.
Their taco dinner is a fantastic deal, $11 for your selection of four different kinds of tacos, and as we were at a taqueria it seemed like the appropriate decision. While some of the tacos on the menu sound a little unusual, the unusual ones were my favorite. I loved the Adobo Shrimp Taco, it was very sweet with a creamy, semi-citrusy sauce. My guest really liked the Skirt Steak Taco, which was probably the best of the standard taco choices and I'd highly recommend it to someone not wanting to take risks with their meal. Above all, my favorite dish at Barrio was the Short Rib Taco. It has a chipotle BBQ sauce short rib, with pickled onions, cauliflower and carrots. While this sounds like a weird combination in a taco, trust me, you don't want to leave the restaurant without experiencing this!
