For this review, we headed to one of our favorite Sunday brunch destinations, usually motivated by the bottomless mimosas. Sporting a décor as trendy as the neighborhood, LOKaL is located in the heart of Wicker Park on North Avenue and offers a simple yet sophisticated brunch menu. However, this time, we were concerned with one item on the menu, the burger.

We ordered their signature burger, the LOKaL Burger which is similar to a classic burger except its topped with Mayo Aioli. We ordered the burger medium rare with all the toppings and added Cheddar Cheese for $1.50. The burger arrived as ordered and the patty was a nice thick size. The Cheddar Cheese was shredded rather than sliced, which sometimes makes for an odd texture and an oily taste. Not big fans of field greens on burgers, but they were definitely fresh and added a nice color to the presentation of the burger. Nevertheless, the burger was hearty, juicy, and seasoned well yet a bit salty. You can’t go wrong with the Brioche Bun, its always a nice bread choice for any sandwich.

If you are looking for a Sunday morning brunch, we highly recommend checking out LOKaL for their Sunday drinks (Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s) as well as their menu. The burgers are worth a try as well.
