"Perfect Sports Bar"

May 15, 2012

  • Sports Bar
  • Bar and Grill
  • Burger Joint

  • Food: Bar and Grill
  • Decor: Rustic, Simple, Relaxed
  • Service: Personable, Attentive
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Wide selection of beers and hard liquor, Delicious dessert drink

Overview:

I instantly fell in love with the mood of this place. It was incredibly clean and the tone was very mild for a sports bar. Each table had their own personal TV with multiple flat screens over the bar. Also, if getting the biggest bang for your buck is a concern, never fear! You will definitely sport a full stomach and leave with a to-go box in hand.

If you like strong flavors and unique spins on traditional dishes, The Pony is your perfect spot. The Waffle Nachos was recommended to me by the bartender and I was so thankful I listened. It was basically a taco salad with the added bonus of french fries. My friend decided on the Cowboy Burger and said the habanero ground beef gave it a really nice kick, and she also really enjoyed the savory spices on the hand cut fries.

My friend and I both adored the Pony Express-O cocktail. The mix of Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur and iced coffee made it the perfect dessert for a bar meal.

"16" Grilled Cheese!!!"

  • Sports bar
  • burgers

  • Food: Upscale and hearty bar food
  • Decor: Natural wood throughout, sports bars, comfortable
  • Service: Fast, friendly, good looking
  • Cost: $$
  • Wine / Cocktails: Great draft beer selection

Overview:

I've had just about every single item on The Pony's menu. My favorite snack to share would be their 16" Clydesdale grilled cheese. It's loaded with three different types of cheese and comes with a homemade tomato basil dipping sauce. A side of handcut fries with ranch goes great with this sandwich! My other go-to favorites are the Cowboy burger (the ground beef is hand-patted with giardenere), the BBQ beef brisket and the waffle nachos.

This is a great place to watch sports because each table has their own table and there are plenty of big screens scattered throughout the bar. They also open the upstairs level on the weekends and really busy sports days. I know they are a UK bar, so if there is a basketball/football game, prepare for a lot of blue!

Recommended Dishes:

Clydesdale, Cowboy Burger, Fries, Pizza
